Materials

Base: 1 wooden/MDF basket base (70 x 35 cm) with 102 holes. Yarn: T-shirt yarn (CYC #6 Super Bulky weight). Approximately 700 g per skein. 1 skein in White, 4 skeins in Charcoal/Dark Grey/Or color of choice. (Note: If making a solid color basket, you will need 5 skeins total). Hooks: 6.0 mm crochet hook (for the base), 7.0 mm crochet hook (for the body). Other: Scissors.

Abbreviations (us terms)

ch: Chain sc: Single crochet sl st: Slip stitch st(s): Stitch(es) Rnd: Round Knit st: Knit stitch / Waistcoat stitch (A single crochet worked directly into the center "V" of the stitch from the previous row, rather than under the top two loops). Pattern Notes Yarn Strands: This pattern uses multiple strands of yarn held together at the same time to create a very stiff, sturdy basket. Pay close attention to when the pattern asks for 2 strands or 3 strands. Invisible Join (Base): Cut the yarn and pull the loop completely out. Insert the hook from back to front under the top 2 loops of the first stitch. Pull the yarn through to the back. Insert the hook from back to front into the center of the last stitch made and pull the yarn to the back. Seamless Join (Body): At the end of a round, pull your active loop slightly larger. Insert the hook from back to front through the first stitch's top loops, and pull the active loop to the back. Then, insert the hook into the center of the stitch below, pick up the loop from the back, and pull it through to the front to start the next round. Hood Construction: The hood is worked in rows, but you will never turn your work. You will always crochet from the right side (outside) of the basket, cutting the yarn at the end of every row.
